Steve Papermaster appointed to LabNow's Board of Directors

LabNow, Inc. announces the appointment of Steve Papermaster to the company's Board of Directors

AUSTIN, Texas - May 19th, 2005
LabNow, Inc., an innovative provider of lab-on-a-chip technology, has announced the appointment of Steve Papermaster to the company's Board of Directors as an independent director.

"Steve's proven track record in business coupled with his extensive public policy involvement in science and technology will make him an invaluable asset to LabNow's development," said Rick Hawkins, Chairman and CEO of LabNow. "He will be highly instrumental in helping us achieve our goals of bringing breakthrough technology to market, improving lives globally, and building a company that is a leader in governance and corporate responsibility."

Papermaster, Chairman of Powershift Ventures L.P., has more than 20 years experience as an entrepreneur, venture capitalist and public policy leader. He has served as chairman and/or board member for many leading private and publicly traded technology companies, including Vignette Corporation (NASDAQ: VIGN), Perficient, Inc. (NASDAQ: PRFT), TippingPoint Technologies (NASDAQ: TPTI), BSG Corp., and ROME Corporation.

Mr. Papermaster is a strong public sector advocate of scientific and technological innovation as an enabler of economic and social advancement, both in the United States as well as internationally. In 2001, President George W. Bush appointed Mr. Papermaster as a member of the President's Council of Advisors in Science and Technology (PCAST). The purpose of PCAST is to advise the President on matters of science and technology policy, and to assist the President's National Science and Technology Council in securing private sector participation in its activities. His areas of focus include Nanotechnology, Innovation Ecosystems, and Energy. He is also a member of the Secretary of Energy's Advisory Board for the Future of Science.

Papermaster is a past recipient of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and has also served as a national and world judge of these awards. He currently serves as a judge for the selection of White House Fellows. Mr. Papermaster received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with highest honors from the University of Texas.
